Hummel designed a newly renovated physician’s lounge at West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho, creating a modern, welcoming space for hospital staff. The original 1970s facility lacked a dedicated lounge that could accommodate the hospital’s physician team, and the renovation provides a calm, comfortable environment that supports staff wellness and boosts the facility’s physician recruitment and retention efforts.

The design blends the hospital’s existing finish standards with additional warm finishes, accent colors, and textures to create a unique, inviting atmosphere. Floor-to-ceiling glass in dictation areas allows natural light to filter into the lounge, while accent lighting, wood tones, fabric wall coverings, and accent wall tiling create a cohesive, relaxing environment. This healthcare architecture project demonstrates how thoughtful design can help hospital staff recharge, improving overall well-being and workplace satisfaction.
