Fred Lillge Residence

This home was built for Mr. & Mrs. Fred Lillge in the Randolph-Robertson subdivision in Boise’s Bench neighborhood. This home was completed in February 1955 for Mr. & Mrs. Fred Lillge and designed by Hummel, Hummel & Jones (a predecessor of Hummel Architects).

The home was built by Emery S. Conner with C.M. Davison as Landscape Designer. This home is located at 6222 Randolph and the exterior is still recognizable; understandably, at some point the carport was remodeled into a garage.

“Randolph-Robertson neighborhood is an important part of Boise’s history. The homes that make up are good examples of mid-century architecture and reflect postwar patterns of design. Variations on the Ranch style dominate the neighborhood. The design emphasizes ample windows and open floor plans, which open interiors spaces to bring the outdoors in. Large lawns provide plenty of space for children to play and accommodated the baby boom following World War II and the subdivision reflects the prosperity and optimism which followed. Today, Randolph-Robertson is a sought after location for homebuyers who want to invest in intact examples of mid-century architecture.”
