ISU Meridian Health Science Clinics
Hummel worked with Idaho State University (ISU) on plans to modernize and expand clinical services at their Meridian Campus. The project, located on the west end of the ground floor of the Sam and Aline Skaggs Health Science Center, is approximately 23,000 SF and improves overall efficiency, provides appropriate adjacency, and facilitates new and expanded clinics such as counseling, speech-language pathology, physical therapy/occupational therapy, nutrition, medication management, audiology, and language pathology. This allows for inter-professional education and patient experience for students which is highly encouraged by accreditation bodies.
Hummel worked with the leadership at Idaho State University to review the campus’s Master Plan and develop a project that meets the clinical needs of today while providing for the expansion of services in the future. Our team worked closely with ISU to develop a list of priorities based on the cost model provided by the CM/GC. The team was able to execute the majority of the bid alternates.
The project will be constructed in two major phases. Phase I will include the remodel area for Communication Sciences and Disorders as identified in the drawings. The work of this phase shall commence by December 2019 and be substantially complete and ready for occupancy by June 2020. Phase II will include the remodel area for physical and occupational therapy and counseling. The existing counseling area must remain occupied until the counseling clinic area is available for use by the project. Work for this phase shall commence by July 2020 and be substantially completed and ready for occupancy by January 2021.
