ISU Meridian Campus Master Plan
Through an interactive process, Hummel developed a comprehensive master plan for Idaho State University’s Meridian, Idaho campus. The 22-acre plot located north of their existing Meridian Campus will allow ISU to expand its health science mission and create a more cohesive campus experience for students.
The Master Plan involves vital elements to support ISU’s health science mission, including health clinics, medical education, research facilities, student housing, and parking solutions. These new facilities will allow ISU to expand its existing programs while simultaneously creating new ones. The campus master plan also incorporates plaza spaces, pedestrian-friendly areas, and access to essential services.
To prevent the new campus from feeling disjointed, we included a throughway that connects the existing facility with the new campus. Energy efficiency was also an important component of this master plan. We designed the buildings to stretch east to west, allowing for ample sunlight throughout the spaces.
Our approach to this master plan focused on ISU’s strategic goals of increasing student success, strengthening programmatic excellence, cultivating external partnerships, expanding academic activities, and energizing the Bengal community. We provided programming and concept graphics for this project, helping ISU share its vision and excitement for the campus with key decision-makers and donors.
