Hummel Architects worked with Idaho State University (ISU) to design two new, world-class College of Business classrooms for business students on their Pocatello campus.  

Walter P. Brown Center for Sales Excellence (Room 212)

The Walter P. Brown Center for Sales Excellence creates the first named sales center in the state of Idaho. The physical sales center space in room 212 on the second floor of ISU’s College of Business (COB) has a small classroom for the Advanced Sales Classes, a room where students can record sales role-plays or have professional Zoom interviews with employers from out of town, and an area for sales training available to the community. The project includes the demolition of an existing tiered classroom, new storefront glazing and entrance, and updated finishes that align with ISU’s branding.

Orin C. Smith Global Finance Lab (Room 211)

The Orin C. Smith Global Finance Lab is located in room 211 on the second floor of the Business Administration building. This new space offers COB students and faculty a modern, trading room-inspired environment to learn and apply the latest financial tools and analytics in high demand. The lab is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a Bloomberg terminal, to empower students to get hands-on experience with the industry’s leading platform.

The room is located across from the recently constructed Student Community Center and houses many of the upper-division finance courses as well as the new Idaho State University Student Management Investment Fund.

Future of the Classrooms

College of Business Dean Dr. Shane Hunt envisions the space as a hub where students and sales professionals can hone their salesmanship, build their personal brand, and craft, rehearse, and train for individual and team presentations, interviews, and proposals. This center will serve as the foundation for the College’s expanding sales program.
