Bank of Idaho

The Alpine-inspired Bank of Idaho building in Ketchum, ID completed in 1979 by Hummel, Hummel, Jones & Shawver (predecessor to Hummel Architects).

In a design unique to Ketchum, this bank featured a steeply-sloped roof for the area’s snowfall and extensive stonework that suggests a mountain cabin. Built before ATMs, the design also features a drive-through window for banking convenience.

This building was remodeled with stacked wood elements covering the dated stonework and large tree poles in the interior and exterior of the building with rustic wood throughout. Home to Visit Sun Valley and Starbucks, this building continues to provide a distinctive profile to Ketchum’s downtown. (Hummel was not involved in the building remodel).
