Boise High School
Today’s #tbt post celebrating 125 years of Hummel projects is Boise High School in downtown Boise.
In 1908, Boise School District hired Tourtellotte and Hummel “to add the first of many expansions, a white brick addition to the east side. In 1912, it added a white brick addition to the west side. In 1922, the district replaced the original red brick central building with the white three-story structure that anchors the school today.”
Hummel Architects has continued to renovate and add to Boise High throughout its life. In 1998 the Frank Church Technology Building was designed to compliment the historic architecture of the urban campus. A complete restoration and renovation of the main building in 1999 included restoring the historic auditorium to its former elegance. (Quote from 150 Boise Icons by Anna Webb, 2013)
